For over twenty years, the helicopter and crew have been involved in more than 18,000 missions involving medical emergencies and accidents, ranging from serious sports injuries to multiple vehicle collisions. We attend, on average, 2-3 potentially life-saving missions a day. The air ambulance is available 19 hours a day with 12% of call outs at night; this vital service offers patients the best possible prospect of survival and full recovery. WAA can be at an incident anywhere in the county in just 11 minutes, but it’s not only the speed of the helicopter that can help save lives, but also the specialist skills of the highly trained paramedics on board.
